That sort of happened in my family. My ggg granddad - James Collyer - was a market gardener in London. He moved to Ramsgate & was a Licensed Victualler in 2 pubs that are still in use today. His 2nd son (my gg granddad) George was a mason's labourer but HIS son Charlie (my great granddad) was a gardener. He worked for the borough council & I have a fab sepia picture of him & his trusty lawn mower - a horse drawn one - in one of the local parks. Charlie's 3rd son - & first surviving child - my granddad Fred, was the Corporation Gardener before & after WW2. (He was in the RAF during the war.) He looked after & planted all the flower beds along the whole length of the sea front & also looked after the same parks that his Dad had. I have a black & white piccy of my Granddad hoe-ing away in a flower bed & many memories of when I was a little girl, walking along the prom with my Mum & seeing my granddad beavering away amongst the daffodils, marigolds & roses.
