The Greyhound Inn (still there) is a fourteenth century coaching Inn that has been at the heart of the local community since it was first opened. It was the preferred location for the infamous "Hanging Judge", Judge Jeffreys, who used to travel via a secret tunnel from his manor within the village straight to the establishment where he supposedly held court, many attempts to find the tunnel have drawn a blank.
