Saturday, January 6, 1900 ----- Death of a Weaver. Elizabeth HOLLARND, aged 13, weaver, employed at W.T. ASHTON and Son's, cotton manufacturers, Hope Mill, Darwen, was caught by a strap connected with machinery when at work on Saturday and carried up to the shafting, round which she was whirled several times. The engine was stopped and the girl was released. She was removed to Blackburn Infirmary, where, several hours afterwards, death ensued. -- Emily Smith
