The following message despatched from Mafeking by Colonel BADEN-POWELL, by runner to armoured train. thence by wire, has reached Bulawayo: "All well here. It is credibly reported that our bayonet attack on the Boer trenches last month was far more successful than was expected, 40 being killed and wounded with the bayonet, and a large number shot, probably by their own side in the confusion." A Times telegram, dated Mafeking, November 28th, says: Mafeking is just beginning to realise that it is a beleaguered city. Although it is six weeks since the place was proclaimed to be in a state of siege, and there has been no opportunity of commercial intercourse between ourselves and the outside world, the ruling prices are very little above normal. Distress is wholly absent, and the danger is largely a question of accident. Mafeking was stored with provisions by the firm of JULIUS WEIL, Government contractors, and the defences were equipped by Colonel BADEN-POWELL. The Boers' acquaintance with this fact is a determining factor in their close investment, but it is impossible for them to capture the town. .....
