You can always make a raised bed using bricks or timber, Annalee. Old railroad sleepers are ideal if you can get them. The sides need be only about 12" to 15" high. Fill it with some decent soil mixed with compost or manure. You will be able to grow a surprising amount of veg's in even a realtively small bed. Alternatively, you could use a number of large pots.
