Transcribed by Susan Bergeron. Geo. The Carlisle Patriot Friday, February 13, 1880 The Tay Bridge Disaster. A body seen on Thursday in the wreck of the Tay Bridge was recovered on Friday, and identified as that of James MURDOCH, engineer, son of Mr. MURDOCH, manager of the Dundee Plate Glass Association. Two more bodies were recovered on Saturday, bringing up the number recovered to thirty-five. One of the bodies was that of Mr. BENYON, a photographer, of Cheltenham, who was on his way to the north of Scotland on business. The other body was that of Mr. SALMOND, a confectioner, who resided in Dundee. Further attempts made on Wednesday to float the fallen girders at the Tay Bridge were not successful, and it has been determined to break up the spans, so that smaller "lifts" may be made. .....
