Howie if you had done this journey you would have felt the same way as I felt, BTW that 10minute walk as quoted by brochure and a young woman and a man as well as yourself ...took ME OVER 15 mins, .... Linda might have done it in 10mins .. I couldn't. The first 15mins, at least, of my starting to walk isn't good once the old heart gets into it then it's usually a lot better, I was still suffering after I got to the building. .........this was from our trip in May .... "" It took Over 3hours to get to Kew - 5 changes on underground, an expensive GBP3.90 to'spend a penny' and including a ten minute walk. ...< snipped > .. Journey home was almost as long, easier but because of Signal failures, as many changes cos we missed the last of the two Aldgate to Chesham commuter tube trains. Travel by Underground from Chesham to Earl's Court, catch a Richmond Line train from there, and get out at Kew Gardens. The National Archives are only a 10-minute walk from there. I can do that from here. Travel by train from Didcot to Paddington, and then to Earl's Court, etc... I certainly prefer not to drive through the west London suburbs! I've been havinga word with Charlie (my m8 on narrowboat Willow) and he says that the closest we can get to Ramsgate (on the canals) is Limehouse in London. (near to the Thames) We have already said that we will go South, next year, sooooooooo when you plan for next year, somewhere near a canal would be good (well for me lol) .....
