    3. Posted with permission of the transcriber, Ann Selchick. Geo. THE WEST CUMBERLAND NEWS, Nov. 21, 1931 CHRISTIAN METHODS ______ Bishop of Carlisle on How to Secure World's Peace. Preaching at Windermere Remembrance Day service, on Sunday, the Bishop of Carlisle is reference to disarmament said: "It is one thing to speak about disarmament, God knows it is necessary just now in Europe. But I tell you plainly if you think by achieving disarmament you will necessarily achieve peace you are greatly mistaken. You can abolish battles, reduce your number of aeroplanes, cut down your armies, but if there are forces in the nation of lust, pride, selfishness and hate, do you think they will not find new methods of achieving domination? Assuredly they will. Until the nations of the world set peace in their hearts and determine to achieve their ends by Christian methods and in Christian ways of life there is no chance of abolishing war either in Europe or in the world." ___________

    3. Hi Marlene, I haven't gotten back to the site yet but intend doing so this week-end. I have to work early tomorrow so I'm contemplating bed now. After trying this afternoon, I ran some errands - had to buy a birthday cake and feed feral cats and go to the grocery - mundane things. I noticed tonight that some other sites I was intent on using were very busy or engaged in maintenence so I'm compiling quite a list of "to dos" Linda -----Original Message----- From: gen-trivia-eng-bounces@rootsweb.com on behalf of Marlene Sent: Fri 9/1/2006 7:52 PM To: gen-trivia-eng@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [TRIVVIES] How British names conquered .. Hi Linda, and for all Trivvies, When you went to that the site page up on Yahoo or whatever one, did you get the the surname one called Surname Profiler, where [as long as your surname choice had more than a 100 of them] you can then look at the map and see the rough area of where they were the most prolific, the Counties are not named, but you can with a map showing just the Counties get roughly the right area. and a choice date of 1881 or 1998, the names I have looked up so far, have been where I have always found them; though not enough NIDD Surnames in 1998 it stated. When I have more time I will look at the other sites under that URL. Have fun on it Marlene ```````````````````````````````````` Very interesting. I tried the site - www.spatial-literacy.org that this article mentioned (love demographic things) and it had been very busy but I can't wait to get my chance at it. Looks really great. Thanks. 3. Hi Glennis Yes that was one of the moans, not sure what else they were on about, otherwise, I hadn't noticed any difference myself, I have never done the "D" List saw one once and looked too complicated for me, and I like my mail "instant" well as instant as it gets sometimes it goes via Outer Space :-))) Marlene ```````````````````` I think that you can't be subbed to both the L and D lists with the same email address, although I don't know why anyone would. In other words, you would need to resub to one or the other with a different email address (if one wanted to subbed to both at the same time!) Glennis
