I didn't intend to to leave it this long [now possibly longer] to go back ... hope you may get to meet the ones still on the List ...in a shorter space of time. I hope one day to also meet up with Wendy wasn't possible last time. Shirley ..Lovely to see you back among us and hope you will stay, have often wondered how you were getting on, thanks for filling us in with your update. You can always make a raised bed using bricks or timber, Annalee. Old railroad sleepers are ideal if you can get them. The sides need be only about 12" to 15" high. Fill it with some decent soil mixed with compost or manure. You will be able to grow a surprising amount of veg's in even a realtively small bed. Alternatively, you could use a number of large pots. Geo. Welcome again, June. :) I wish I could garden, have wished so since childhood, but unfortunately our soil in our yard is not conducive to gardening. One of these days, though! I would be thrilled to have a vegetable garden. :) Annalee
.... for Maria and Andy and especially Phoebe .... Big D and family should get to meet 'little un' on Friday. Phoebe and Paige were names that both mum and Dad liked and Mary was for one of Andy's Gt.Grans, and for me and for Maria as her name is a variant of Mary. I'm sure that Maria when she has a chance will follow up with her own thank yous. Marlene __________________________________________________________ Sent from Yahoo! I have told you all about my son Eddie donating a kidney to a young girl called Shelly....I am sure I told you that she lost the kidney in October. Well I am very sad to tell that Shelly lost her fight for life today. She had become very important in our family and we are very sad to loose her. She was only 22. The young Maori warrior of today, and this is far from an isolated case. http://nz.news.yahoo.com/080212/3/3yl1.html?f=mv >From another list. Geo.
For the benefit of our newer members and others who may have forgotten or did not know: -- Because Rootsweb allow only plain text messages on this List and to a lesser extent because they frown on 'off-topic' posts, some time ago our former Listowner, Sue, set up a Trivvies Yahoo Group where we can post photos, etc. in messages and are not restricted as to topic - provided it's not in bad taste or really contentious, of course. As members of this list you are invited to also join the Yahoo Trivvies at: http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/Trivvies/ To join, click the 'Join This Group' button at the upper right of the home page. Note 1: If you don't already have a Yahoo ID you will need to create one by clicking the 'Sign Up' link on the 'Join' page. Note 2: When you join you are given the option of receiving Group messages in either 'Fully Featured', a so-called New & Improved format or in 'Traditional' format. Almost everyone finds the traditional option to be far better. Whichever you choose can be changed later if you wish. Any questions or problems, please ask me. Thank you Geo., that sounds like it probably is a good idea. I did know I would probably need to bring in some special soil and manure. The ironic thing about this part of California that I live in, is it is one of the greatest agricultural bounties in the world, but our yard has nothing but desert-like dirt, which doesn't allow for too many things to grow, save for cacti!
