That's sad, Lizzie . . . so sudden, all feelings are left in turmoil. Hugs, Jennifer On News of a Friend’s Sudden Death by Felix Dennis 2002 How thin the cloth, how fine the thread That cloaks the living from the dead; How narrowly, from breath to breath, We plait our rendezvous with death. How swift the tenant flees the gate; The landlord’s writ, come soon or late, Foreclosing slum or stately hall, Hard Bailiffs at His beck and call. How feather-light the feeble spark That shields us from the greedy dark; Unjessed our souls like falcons fly! Sorry to hear your news Lizzie, It always hits harder to a person who can't be close at hand of a family loss. Can your stepdaughter come down to you for a holiday ... or has she a family to care for. Yes, you are indeed already a member, Howie. Your Yahoo ID is howie.1924. As you have opted to have messages downloaded direct to your inbox you may not need to visit the website often but when you do you can scroll down to the bottom of any Yahoo Trivvies email message and click on the 'To visit your group on the web' link to go to the Home page (or you may possibly be re-directed straight to the sign in page by-passing the Home page). Alternatively click on the following link or type it into your browser's address field; http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/Trivvies/ and click on the 'Sign In' link which is at the top left of the page immediately to the right of the 'Yahoo Groups' logo. From there, you are taken to the sign in page where you can enter your ID and password. Geo. Geo., I assume I am already a member? But how do I sign in? I can't recall my receiving a Yahoo ID... Hi Lizzie .... so sorry to hear the sad news ... our thoughts are with you (((gentle hugs))) Caroline and John xxxx Just had a call from my stepdaughter to say that her Mum (the first Mrs Calar) died suddenly a few days ago. A ruptured aortic aneurism. She was 66, a year older than me. I'm sitting here in shock. My poor wee lassie! There is nothing I can say to her . and tomorrow would have been Calar's birthday too, and we always find that difficult. Can't write any more now. I'm going to make some cocoa and drink it under the frosty night sky. I'll watch the starlight over the hills and think of the elves conducting my predecessor on her way to the West. Her true name was Edda, same as the great Norse epics. Tolkien would have liked that. Lizzie . . "IS THE SUBJECT LINE STILL RELEVANT? Fortunately for myself and most of my family live in the Central Valley, while the fire hurt the Southern part of the state the hardest. Our county ended up sending several of our firemen to San Diego to help with the putting out of the fires. I do have people I care about who live in the Los Angeles/San Diego areas including one person who lives in the path of the fire (but his home was ok), so I was pretty concerned, and it was sad to turn on the television on and see the devastation. I live in the Derbyshire Peak District National Park, June, so if you get to visit England, we'll have to meet up. ... Lizzie -----Original Message----- Good morning Everyone, Thank you so much for the warm welcome! I see you all have some connection to the UK. The only connection I have is all of my "Hart" ancestors lived there. The more I research them and all the little towns and villages they lived in the more I want to visit England. I received my new passport in the mail this week so that is a start! Nice to meet you. June Burnaby, B.C Western Canada .
That is very very sad, DiDi, Eddie must be devastated, as if he's lost a part of himself. ... hugs ... Lizzie -----Original Message----- I have told you all about my son Eddie donating a kidney to a young girl called Shelly....I am sure I told you that she lost the kidney in October. Well I am very sad to tell that Shelly lost her fight for life today. She had become very important in our family and we are very sad to loose her. She was only 22. Di Di
Raised beds are wonderful. I had 6 4ftx20ft beds at our last house and grew all sorts of things. There's no garden at all her, but the hills and moors are compensation. ... Lizzie -----Original Message----- You can always make a raised bed using bricks or timber, Annalee. Old railroad sleepers are ideal if you can get them. The sides need be only about 12" to 15" high. Fill it with some decent soil mixed with compost or manure. You will be able to grow a surprising amount of veg's in even a realtively small bed. Alternatively, you could use a number of large pots. Geo. Welcome again, June. :) I wish I could garden, have wished so since childhood, but unfortunately our soil in our yard is not conducive to gardening. One of these days, though! I would be thrilled to have a vegetable garden. :) Annalee
