    1. Re: Chervenka surname
    2. CervenFinn
    3. My maiden name is Cervenka. My grandfather came from Zlin in what is now the Czech Republic. I have copies of documents which show my ancestors were in Moravia there back into the late 1700s (at least). Some of the spellings include Cervinky. The surname is usually pronounced Chervenka. Females would be known as Chervenkova. There is a town in the area of the Czech and Slovak republics called Cervenka. My father had the notion that the family originated somewhere east into the former Soviet Union. Some cousins even moved to Kazakstan during Stalin's time. But long before they were in the Czech region, they were supposedly from the Ukraine. I don't know where they lived before the late 1700s, but would like to find out if there is a way to look up Church records or census records for the Ukraine. My line is Christine Cervenka/Ray/Jan/Josef/Josef/Jana. Thanks, Chris Cervenka Finney CervenFinn@aol.com
