    3. I am still looking for others researching the surname SILHAVY.... its not very common either in the old Austria-Hungary (now mostly in Czech Republic) or in the US. gr/grandfather Leopold SILHAVY born 10 Nov 1853 in Pohor, Bohemia to Josef SILHAVY and Anna NAGY-SZKAL The Silhavy's worked as foresters on the estates of Count Bela Hadik throughout Austria-Hungary, traveling with the family. We suspect the mother, Anna, to somehow be related to another Hungarian noble family, as the title "Domina" is listed before her name, indicating Lady, or relation to a noble family. Leopold died 31 May 1900 in Sabinov, Slovakia. His widow Matilda JANKOVICH Silhavy emigrated to Bridgeport CT in 1903, with children Joseph, Bela (changed to William later), Mary and Irene. We have found distant connection to another SILHAVY family in CT , and suspect relation to the only other branch we can find in the Chicago area. Josef Silhavy (father of Leopold) is said to have had 7 brothers, at least one of whom came to the US before the Civil War. We think all the Silhavy lines in the US are related thru these brothers. If you know of anyone researching SILHAVY, please contact me, or have them contact me.
