I was sent a letter stating that >we originated from Prussia but that is all i know, can anyone help? Thank >You > My family came from West Prussia which is now Poland. In order to help you, I need to have some dates and maybe a given name. First thing you should do, though, is send for your parents' birth certificates. The certificates will tell you who your grandparents were and where they came from. I don't know your age, so I can't estimate your parents' ages nor that of your grandparents. If you are very young, and if your grandparents were born in this country, send for their birth certificates. Keep going until you get to the immigrants of your family. there will be a nominal fee charged for these searches. If you cannot get birth certificates, send for death certificates of those who are deceased. If all this fails, and even if it doesn't, write to the church they attended and ask them to sarch their records for the family's participation in the rites of that church/synagogue...baptisms, marriages, bar mitzvahs etc. Always ask religious organizations what fee they charge for a search. If they don't charge a fee, you are obligated to give a donation. After you've done all that, I'll help you further if you like. I will give you an address to write to in Germany for a search providing you can tell me where your family originated. don't for get to go to the Latter Day Saints Family History Center nearest you. The volunteers, there, will be happy to help you. June from CA
