Hi, my grandfather has passed away. He would not reveal his background to relatives. He may have been slavic, we're not sure. He served in US Army as Marfian Joseph Zintschuk from 5/25/1918 to 8/19/1919. He was overseas Sept 14,1918 to Aug 13,1919. War injuries left him wounded for life & was honorably discharged Camp Devons, MA on 8/19/1919. We traced the name back to what was referred to as the "white Russian border" but we are unclear if that border was considered Russian or German due to war. His name was changed on war records on May 29,1921 to Joseph John Martin. papers signed by Gen Vahan Vartanian. His VA file number is 1527516. and his address on papers indicated Wood St, Box 91, Lexington, MA as his then address. Can you help with our search? Please EMAIL me. thanks.
