GEN-SLAVIC is growing steadily, numbers going up every month. New subscribers might not be aware of a very helpful resource, the FEEFHS, Federation of Eastern European Family History Societies. The URL for the FEEFHS is http://www.feefhs.org Once there you will appreciate the extent of the work done by the editor and webmaster, John Movius. From the Master Index, you will easily find the FAQ for soc.genealogy.slavic by Stephen Kymlicka, founder of soc.genealogy.slavic and co-owner of GEN-SLAVIC. Newbies wondering where to start in Eastern European genealogy would benefit from John A. Hudick's "Slovak and Rusyn Roots: Getting Started". There is a lot of help in this document even if your roots are other than Slovak or Rusyn. The big reminder every month is that GEN-SLAVIC is set for NO MIME messages. (This is true of nearly every genealogy mailing list). The second reminder is the availability of LISTSERV commands by sending an "INFO REFCARD" message to LISTSERV@MAIL.EWORLD.COM. Very handy if you wish to temporarily unsubscribe/keep your mail on hold while on vacation, receive in digest mode, etc. Margaret Sheremata sherema@vax2.concordia.ca GEN-SLAVIC Listowner
