I am looking for any information on my Slovak relatives. This is what I do know: Joseph Janovec was born abt 1883 in Ruzomberok, Slovakia (Austria-Hungary) and was married to Mary Hiravy. Amongst their children was Stephan Andrew who was born August 20, 1875 in Ruzomberok. He married Mary Anne (Maria) Kubanis (Macko). Mary Anne was born July 6, 1873 in Slovakia, the daughter of Joseph Kubanis and Mary Ana Trik. Stephan & Mary Anne (Maria) emmigrated to the U.S. in 1905, and settled in the Cleveland, Ohio area. They had several children, including my grandmother, Emerie (Emerenciana) Mary Janovec Melvold. I know that there are still Janovec cousins in Ruzomberok, as I was lucky enough to visit them with my grandmother, who spoke Slovak, in in late 1970's. Although we exchange Christmas cards, I do not know Slovak. If any one has information about the Janovecs or Kubanis families, or hints on where to go next, I would greatly appreciate the help.
