    3. I am curious of the info that your father-in-law found a polish name in the French National Archives. Why was the name there? By chance, was Smolikowski one of the Polish officers who left Poland after the Third Partition to become part of Napoleon's forces (some of whom were sent to Haiti) to put down slave rebellion in 1802. Would appreciate a response.
