What are given names? What are pertinent dates? What was their ethnic group? Did they immigrate? If so where, US, Canada, Australia, Argentina, etc? Where did they settle? What is the village of origin? FYI in the late 1700s Poland was split 3 ways with the west going to Prussia, the south to Austria (known as Galicia) and the east to Russia. After WW I Galicia was split in 2 with the west going to Poland and the east to Ukraine. Once the village of origin is determined then you can begin to get some real information? The LDS Church (Mormon) has thousands of microfilm parish records from around the world (some dating back to 1500s) which a person may order and rent for $3.50 US at one of the over 2,000 Family History Centers worldwide! There are 56 KOWALUK listed in Ellis Island records arriving from Austria (Galicia Province, Russia and Argentina. Listing Race as Polish, Russian or Ruthenian. http://www.jewishgen.org/databases/EIDB/ellis.html Family Search is down for maintenance this AM but you can search their for IGI files and Social Security Death Index records. http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp Searching Google.com for "KOWALUK genealogy" finds 24 links. http://www.google.com/ Here are some links you may be interested in: http://www.polishroots.com/ http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/13277a.htm http://www.lemko.org/index.html Robert Jerin Croatian Heritage Museum Cleveland Ohio http://www.croatia-in-english.com/rj/index.html
