I e-mailed the list administrator who responded last week saying that they were having problems with messages sent to certain addresses being returned, and as a result had to unsubscribe some list members. He indicated that I had been re-subscribed, but still no S-W mail as of 5/5. I re-subscribed on 5/1 myself, but have received no acknowledgement. Must be a server problem! Tom Hopta

    1. SVEJKOVSKY
    2. Anne Mary C. Chapirson
    3. Could someone tell me if there are many SVEJKOVSKYs in the Czech Republic at this time? SVEJKOVSKY is one of my colateral families, but since CERNY/CERNEY is a very common name, we are trying to connect the 5 SVEJKOVSKY clans in the U.S. (only 73 listed in the phone CDs in the U.S.). They all seem to have intermarried with CERNY/CERNEY, MUDRA, CIPRA and several of my other names in my family tree. The 5 SVEJKOVSKY clans in the U.S. all go back to 5 immigrating families who all came from villages within 10 miles of each other in Rokycany County in Bohemia. Since it seems to be so uncommon here, I am wondering whether it is a very common name in the Czech Republic. Annie

It makes no difference if she is single, married, widowed, on her own, at home, etc. If she marries, she will typically change her name to that of her husband, but she STILL uses the feminine ending. -- Gary N. 3. The Slownik G is useful since it gives information on most of the villages, towns, cities, etc. of Poland in the late 1800's. Information includes a description of the town, residents, makeup of population, transportation available and most importantly the church that served the residents of the town. Knowing the church is important in finding copies of birth, death and marriage records, which in turn, give names of parents, etc. "EMIL G.
