I am an adoptee researching my actual bloodlines. My grandparents emigrated from Vienna via Cherbourg, France on 11 November, 1911. They were originally resident in what was then Pressburg, Austria (now Bratislava, Slovak Republic.) My grandfather, Rudolf Hotovy, was an orphan. We do know that he was born in Jilove (aka Eulau) , near Prague. My grandmother, Leopoldine Francisia Teiml, though of Bohemian stock, was apparently born in Pressburg...reputedly one of eighteen children. Her parents were Carl and Francisia (Mayorky) Teiml. Both spoke German and identified themselves as ethnic Germans on the ship's manifest. The couple had eight children, of which one was my birthfather. If these surnames are familiar, please contact me at ZNKR83B@PRODIGY.COM. I am planning to go to Europe a year from this summer to do extensive research in both the Czech and Slovak Republics. Plondoner Huta - there are several Hutas in Poland, there's a Huta Dlutowska about 10 miles south of Lodz; no guesses for Plondoner. Petkrau - looks like Piotrkow Trybunalski. Hi; when my grandfathers dad came to America he was told by his brother that was here eleven years before him to get rid of all his papers then they will think you are an American citizen. They were afraid, the years in Poland and caused a glitch in their way of looking at things. I too have that problem, and even some still alive are strange about the whole thing. Looking for info about my great grandparents- Henry VOTKE and Mary VOZAB All I know is that they were both born in Czech. and that Mary was born in 1881. Their children were Josephine, Charles, Hank, and Marie (all born in the US). They lived in New York City. Marie married Bror Carl Ericsson from Sweden. I have a question about the town of Kolbuszowa in Rzeczow province. On an old map of the Austro Hungarian Empire,(Galacia) there is a town named Kolbuczow. Are these names the same town?
