In 1960 some very good friends of mine were caught in a similar flash flood that are well known to anyone who hikes the Southern Utah/Arizona Canyons. There were several casualties, including one of my friends. There is no way to predict when these flash floods will hit and the force is awesome. To have beautiful blue skies and suddenly a roaring wall of water coming down the canyon is an incredible experience, said my friend that did survive. She watched as people tried to help each other. Only a few were able to get to higher ground...she was one of the lucky ones. The force of the water pulled someone right out of her hands and swept him away. WHAT ARE WE TO LEARN FROM THIS? In life there are always RISKS. Do we need laws to regulate and control everything we do?.....I don't think so. Part of the adventure of life is not knowing what's coming next. We can't plan for every contingency....and that's where faith and listening to the spirit's promptings comes in.
