    1. Re:what time to go to bed
    2. Just thinking of how I got all my kids off to bed at a good time for everybody to stay in good moods. It was really hard. But, because you only have 1 daughter the easiest way to know when to send her to bed would be according to waht day it is , whether she has school etc. A girl of that age needs 10 nours a night sleep. If she goes to bed at 9, she should be up by 7...

    1. Re: Too much mail!!!!!
    2. Hi Faith, What is a usual time for a 9-10 year old to go to bed? My daughter is this age and now that I'm a single mom, with just the 2 of us at home, likes to sleep with me when she can get away with it! If I'm on the phone, which is often after 9:00, she will sleep next to me on the couch. Any suggestions? *!* Kimberly

    2. I sent the flowers letter to some of my friends. One friend replied, apparently with all the addresses in the "to" field. If you received the following letter, I'm sorry. Perhaps we can learn from this: if you are sending something to this group, don't include other addresses, as it causes problems. Just send it to GenRooters and then a new one to your other friends! I hope this didn't cause any confusion for all of you. Tina [email protected] In a message dated 97-08-23 18:18:53 EDT, you write: << Yes, it is the thought that counts. Thank you. 2. "I CAN" by Bevealy Nadller -- I look in the mirror and ask myself What do I want to be? What do I want to have and do The choice is up to me. -- Created in the image of God The Bible says we are. And with God all things are possible: So reach for the highest star. -- First we have to set our goals. Then create our plan - And when doubts and fears get in the way Keep on saying "I can!" -- Face each day with confidence - Stand tall, with your head held high. Believe in yourself and you'll make it. You can. If only you'll try. -- Dare to hold fast to your dream While you do what you must do. Always keep your eye on your vision - The wisdom inside will guide you. -- Take action - get out of the shadows And step out into the sun! For the only race you can win in life Is the race that you have run. -- We measure success by money and wealth -- But so much better by far Is the success of feeling the Power inside When you know who you really are. -- Each one of us is a special person -- We're all one of a kind. With untapped potential that awakens When you learn how to use your mind. -- Now when I look in the mirror I finally love what I see. I can do anything I really want to - Thank God - I'm me!

    2. Here is a really easy recipe for Zucchini bread. It is so simple you will want to make it all the time. 2 cups Biscquick or Jiffy mix 2 cups Zucchini 1/4 cup oil 2/3 cup sugar 1 teaspoon nutmeg 2 teaspoon cinnamon 3 eggs 1 teaspoon vanilla Mix all ingredients on low speed. Grease loaf pan , fill 2/3 full and bake for about 45-50 minutes on 350 degrees. Before you bake taste the mix and see if there is enough seasoning. You may want to add more to taste. You can also add nuts or raisins or both. For anyone who has tons of baby food left over I made this recipe using jars of babyfood. Just substitute the zuch. for the baby food. My DH never knew the difference. He thought it was cinnamon bread. LOL LOL Kimmie

    2. Hi Sisters, It almost seems like I might be in the minority here! LOL I LOVE to cook! I especially like to try new recipes. I also like extremely easy ones because with 6 kids my time is constantly being infringed upon. And with another baby on the way I don't have much energy. So here is the easiest recipe that I can send you. Anyone who hates to cook or cannot follow a recipe, you can make this! You can eat it with Icecream. It is delicious! Dump Cake 1 box yellow cake mix 1 can cherry pie filling 1 20 oz can crushed pineapple 2 sticks margerine melted in 9X13 pan dump in order: Cherry pie filling pineapple-juice and all evenly sprinkle cake mix over top pour melted margerine over top as evenly as possible. Bake in 350 oven for at least an hour. Until a nice golden brown crust is on top. You don't want to underbake, and you don't want to burn it so start watching at about an hour. This does not last in my house, and the missionaries love it! Diane

    1. Re: Re: How to get your kids to eat what you make
    2. In a message dated 8/22/97 7:40:04 PM, you wrote: <<[email protected]>> Several years ago I was battling the dilemma of the kids who thought they should always get what they want on their dinner plate and never try anything new. So I fought with them, threatened them, starved them, etc., to no avail. Still, each time we sat down to dinner, at least one of the kids would complain about what we were having and asked if they could have something else. I always turned out to be the meanie when I said no. One day I finally had enough. So, I tried a different approach: right before lunch one day I had the kids get out anything and everything they could imagine putting on a sandwich. They got out pickles, deli meat, cheese, tomatoes, green peppers & other veggies, tuna, peanut butter, jam, mustard, mayo, ketchup, butter, olives, etc., etc., etc. We laid out crackers, bread, pitas, and tortillas, too, and all this stuff took up most of the space on the kitchen table. Then I told the kids to have at it and make the most disgusting sandwich they could think of. It was so funny! My son made a peanut butter, onion, mustard and tuna sandwich. One of the girls made a stack of crackers alternating with cheese, pickles, jam, cucumbers, deli meat, you name it. The other daughter was a bit more conservative and stuffed a pita full of all kinds of veggies, but then slathered on the ketchup. I even made a double layered tortilla, veggie, and peanut butter thing. When we were all done creating our cuisine, I dared the kids to be the first one to not just taste their concoctions but to eat at least 2 bites of it and see who could make the most hilarious face while doing so. It was a hoot. They all did it, thinking it was all a big game. And it was. The conclusion: that evening when dinner was served the kids tried their whining; but I reminded them of what they had for lunch that day and never wanted to hear another gripe about what I fed them if they could stomach what they themselves had made, or else that is what I would make them for dinner. It has been 8 years and they still remember!
