Dear List, First: I found ggg grandfather in 1881 UK Census and his birthplace was listed as Putnam Co., NY. He was born in either 1850 or 1851. Would his birth have been registered in New York State? His parents were British citizens. Second: I picked up a book: The Cousins' Wars by Kevin Phillips. The first several chapters are extremely helpful for anyone searching ancestor's roots in terms of where to begin looking in England. Sharon K.
