Hi folks, A few years ago my niece in Las Vegas ordered the 1850 Federal Census for Columbia Cty. NY at her local LDS Library. On it, in the 1st ward of Hudson,NY the name of my ggrandfather, Michael FLYNN, is listed. She made a copy of the page and I have that in my possession. Since then I've learned there were more FLYNN'S living in Hudson at that time. I ordered the 1850 Federal Census for Columbia Cty. from my local LDS Library in Michigan to do more research. I'm reviewing that film now and have found there are some differences from the film she made a copy of. At first it wasn't noticeable but in further examination I've found more discrepancies. In the film I'm reviewing now, my ggrandfather's name is spelled FLINN. It is listed with the same numbers such as "order of visitation" & etc. I believe it is an extraction of the original census but nothing is stated on the film that it is an extraction rather than the original. The handwriting is similar but different. It looks like the official census record at first reading. I've noticed other differences in the recording between my niece's copy and mine. Also on my film, the second ward has been written over and it's almost impossible to read the writing. I'm interested in researching that ward too. There's no explanation forthcoming from local LDS volunteers here. Has anyone had this experience with LDS films? Mary L. Casey in Michigan
