    1. My NY vital records requests received in 8 days and an idea
    2. Hi NY List, In the interest of keeping "y'all" informed, I want to report that the 10 applications for vital records that I submitted in person last Monday, 11/22/99, at the NY State Dept. of Health in Albany, resulted in a lovely envelope in my mail box here in Austin, TX today, a mere 8 days later, with the information I requested! (The key to this rapid service seems to be in providing the death, birth or marriage certificate number, which you find on the microfiche in the state archives, 11th floor, so the Dept. of Health people do not have to do that part of the research.) And so, since we all can't get to Albany whenever we wish, I suggest there is an opportunity for some enterprising person with time on his or her hands, and who lives in the Albany area, to help any of us out who can't get there but "have" to have that information sooner, rather than later, but for a price, of course! I can tell you, if I still lived up there I'd consider it! Warm regards from Austin, TX, Marilyn Hough Stern
