More or less except that Flatbush and Harlem acquired their names from the first Dutch settlers in the 17th century and are older than the name New York. Flatbush is now considered a section of Brooklyn and Harlem, of course, has for many years been considered the center of American Black culture with a population that is almost entirely black. Originally Harlem was a lush farming community located where Manhattan begins to narrow and is bounded on the east by the Harlem River, which is not really a river at all but a tidal estuary.
