Toni, This is from Everton's Handybook 9th edition (1999): "In 1713 the Treaty of Ultrect awarded the Hudson Bay region and Newfoundland to the British." So you see, the land was awarded long before there was a Canada or U.S.A. Looking in the Source and in Evertons, I was unable to find a reference to the Hudson Bay Co. If there are records, my guess would be to look in the National Archives of Canada, 395 Wellington St., Ottawa ON K1A0N3, Canada. Mary A.
