Dear List- Does anyone know if there might be records left by old coal companies? I was wondering whether there was some sort of coal dealer's business association in NY City in the mid-late 1800s and early 1900s. Both sides of my mother's family owned coalyards...one on the East River and one on the west side. I will try calling the NY Public Library to see if they have some idea about these types of business associations, but thought someone on the list might have run into this sort of question.
