I found out something real interesting today. A friend who lives in Rutland called me. Both she and I have the microfilm of the Middletown, Rutland Co., VT Baptist Church records. I thought I had taken out all the names in which I had an interest, but in looking through it, she found something I hadn't. In Vol. 2, page 82, Chh Records for 1804: May 17. Then held preparatory meeting at the meeting house. At this meeting we received Sister Esther Herrick by letter from the Second Baptist Chh in Greenfield. This would be the widow of Ebenezer Herrick who died in 1796 in Greenfield, Saratoga Co., NY. I'm betting she came to Middletown, VT to live with her daughter, Phebe (Herrick) Rudd. Phebe dies in 1825 according to the church record. Her first husband, Silas Rudd, had died about 1804, and she wouldn't yet have married John Davis. Esther Herrick is also listed in Vol. 3, but there's no dates after her name or info as to what happened to her. There's no cemetery listing for her in Middletown, but then there are no listings for the Rudds there either. According to the town history, Increase(4) Rudd (father of Silas) gave land on his property to be used as a cemetery, but it's been gone for over 100 years.
