    3. Now I bring up some of the discussion from the posts I received in Regards to Hendrick Kortreght's parents and his siblings. Ellie Pelcyger wrote on: Date: Thu, 18 Nov 1999 09:24:59 EST <Dear Jay, <Seems to me there is a possibility that the Cornelis Kortright who married Tjaetjen in 1747 could be Cornelis b. 1722, son of Cornelius <Hendricksen Van Kortryk and Christina Rooskrans. This is off the top of my head and only looking at the likelihood because of the dates. But <that was only one Cornelis; there were probably lots of them in that generation. There were many Cornelis Kortrights at the time. And that has made things confusing. I did not have information that you mentioned. Is this Cornelius Hendricksen Van Kortryk the son of Hendrick Jansen Kortright whio was born 1673 in Mombaccus, Rochester (Rayester) Twp., Ulster Co., New York? What source do you have for his marriage to Christina Rooskrans and their children? Could Rooskrans be another spelling for Rosenkrans? Irene had written this to help us out: <This is what I have in my files: <Cornelis Kortright m. Tjaetjen Dec. 6, 1747 & was the son of: <Hendrick Cornelissen Cortwright & Jannetje Ennes who was the son of: <Cornelius Hendricksen Cortwright & Christina Hendrickson Rosekrans who was the son of: <Hendrick Jansen Kortreght & Catherine Hanson Webber who was the son of: <Jan Bastiansen Van Kortryk & Annettje Cornelius who was the son of : <Sebastain Van Kortryk What is your source for this information Irene? Can anyone help confirm this information? Cathy Brooks wrote: <I own a copy of the Roswell Hoes book of Baptisms and Marriage records of the Old Dutch Reforn Church and Hendrick is listed on page 119, <record 2517 as being baptized on September 22 1717, parents listed as Pieter Kortregt and Marytjen Van Garden. Witnesses and sponsors <listed as Louwerens Kortregt and Zara ten Eyk. <The same book also has a record of Elizabeth, page 141, record 3002 as being baptized on May 13 1722, parents listed as Johannes Hoornbeek <and Orseltjen Wesbrock , witnesses and sponsors as Jan Vaarten and Tryntjen Oosterhoud. Hope this helps you for a source of your <information. Yes it did Cathy, thank you. Cathy also wrote: <I have been looking more in my Randall Hoes book and found a baptism record for a child of Rachael Koreregt and Gysbert Van Garden. The <childs name is listed as Ellener, baptized on Jan 22 1758, witnesses and sponsor listed as Eliphas Van Aaken and his wife, Ellener Ferber. It is <listed on page 331 and is record number 6768. <Also, I have two marriages in my records, for Catrina, married to Abraham Van Camp about 1742 with two children listed and married to <Jacobus Van Garden April of 1753 with six children listed for this couple. Cathy Jean wrote: Jim, Your ancestral line [Abbott,35] is: Jan Bastiaensen Kortright + Hendrick Jansen Kortright + Hendrick Hendricksen Kortright + Pieter (Petrus) Hendricksen Kortright Hendrick, bap. Sept. 22, 1717, m. Elisabeth Hornbeck, Dec. 28, 1739" Having no plus sign before the name "Hendrick", it means that the compiler (Abbott) does not know where your ancestor Hendrick-Elisabeth Hornbeck Kortright are. My theory holds that they removed to another town or state where his surname was differently spelled for his surname by different record clerks. Have you searched for baptismal records "1717" under spelling variants: Kortright, Kortregt, Kortrecht, Cortrecht, Cutright? Perhaps you would write a letter to Ulster County Genealogical Society? No I have not Jean. I do know that Hendrick and Elizabeth moved to Virginia and that is where they stayed till death, but they were married in New York and had their Chidren in NY. Many of their chidren moved with them. Cynthia, you wrote: <but ... Annetje did marry Alexander Van Garden. He was bp October 06, 1728 in the Kingston RDC to Pieter Van Garden and Margriet Decker. <Alexander is a brother to Gysbert who married Rachel Kortreght, Annetje's sister.
