    3. I think there is a general confusion between the NYC Municipal Archives (NY City Records) and the Albany NY State Department of Health (NY State Records). It is the latter that has a bad turnaround reputation, not the Municipal Archives. The MA usually will respond (if the request is straightforward, correct, and the proper amount sent) within 4 weeks. Albany, on the other hand, has delays (via mail, not in person) that have been reported to be as long as 8-10 months. Your request to the Municipal Archives, therefore, was right in line with their normal turnaround research time. Best regards. Nancy.
