Avenue "A" and East 3rd Street are both in Lower Manhattan..........Your folks probably lived in "Little Germany", which was in the neighborhood which now is called the East Village......Tompkins Square Park is in the area where "Little Germany" was........ " St. Markus Kirch" was St. Mark's Lutheran Church---A Little Germany mainstay.... They are no longer in that neighborhood, but have moved uptown, to Yorkville and they are now called Zion-St. Marks Evangelical Lutheran Church.........They still have a German-speaking Pastor.....
