    3. Hello, To officially start off my genealogy Research for my NY ancestors. I am going to start off with my ancestors that left the Empire State and headed to Virginia. There were four such families involved in that exodus. I will pick one and work on him with your help untill exhausted before moving on down the line. I hope this combination effort will help many that have families that tied in with mine or might have traveled west when mine did. I would like to start with my Dutch ancestor Hendrick "Henry" Kortright (Cortright/Cutright/etc.) Born Aug 1717in Rochester twp, (then Raysester), Ulster Co., New Netherlands. I do have a note that his parents (Petrus "Pieter" Kortright and Marytjen "Mary" Van Garden) were living in Rochester in 1717. He was Baptised in 22 Sep 1717 with Witnesses: Louwerens Kortregt and Zara ten Eyk (His Uncle and Aunt). He married on 28 DEC 1739, in Rochester twp to Elizabeth "Liddie" Hornbeck. Then in 1753 became a "Ensign of Foot" for the community. About 1760 Henry and Liddie made the Journey to Virginia. They had several children there. Here are a few notes: > I believe Hendrick Kortright was a late comer to the South Branch > arriving around 1760/61. This date comes from sworn statements made by his > son John at a later date ie: pension application for military service. If anyone has more information to add, please post it. Jay Steffens
