Hello, I am new to the list. I have been searching for information on a James T. BARTON. James is said to have come to the US from Ireland on an Orphan ship during the famine. Some in the family say he arrived in 1848, others say 1848 is his birth year. He is also said to have joined the Army and served as a drummer boy. He lived in OH, IN, and AR after his time in the service. Can anyone help me learn more about the Orphan ships, or how to discover if or when James may have joined the Army? Thank you, P.J.
