    3. GEN-NYS-d@rootsweb.com Here are some of the the specific names that I have found. My 4th great Grandfather, Gillium DAVIS (b. ca 1770s? - d. before 1840?)he may have been a younger brother to Benjamin and Nathaniel DAVIS. His son Joel DAVIS lived in the Warwick area until about 1860, then moved to Chemung Co. He married Mathilda COLE, daughter of Abram, and Mary, please see below. Nathan DAVIS, son of Joel DAVIS and Mathilda COLE married Hattied Mae DRAKE, duaghter of Thomas O. DRAKE and Catherine or Mary POWELL. I see this DRAKE family in the Horseheads area of Chemung Co., in th 1880 census, but Thomas must have died before then. Hattie Mae was supposed to have been born in Gibson (Corning?) Steuben Co. ca, 1858, but I can not find this Thomas DRAKE anywhere, at least haven't yet. Any information on any of these families would be greatly appreciated and I will be happy to share. Read on..... I am looking to find and share information on my COLE McELROY 4th great grandparents, and associated families, POWELL DAVIS and DRAKE Mary McELROY (b. ca. 1788? d. after 1850) married Abraham COLE (b. ca. 1760s? d. before 1850) in The Associated Reformed Church, Newburgh, Dutchess Co. in 1804.I am only guessing at Abram COLEs dates, because I believe he may have served in the Rev. War. I know that they may have lived in the Warwick, or Monroe area of Orange Co., NY. Their daughter Mathilda COLE married Joel DAVIS, son of Gillium DAVIS of Warwick, Orange Co. My question has to do with weather Abram COLE and my COLE family were Dutch/German, or English, given the place of marriage, a reformed church. But then, McELROY certainly sounds of Scottish extraction. I feel that anyone in that area of NY State at theat time, could have been English/Dutch/German or any combination of the three. It doesn't really matter to me, just would give me more ideas on where to look for Abram COLEs parents, and Mary McELROYs parents. I have a strong suspicion that a James McELROY from the Albany area, listed in the 1790 census, could have been her father. Any info would be appreciated. Mike Burnett mwburne@aol.com
