    3. New York City Directories are easily available on microfilm at a LDS (Mormon) Family History Center. They were published annually. Look in the FHL Locality Catalog under "NEW YORK, NEW YORK (CITY) - DIRECTORIES" for the film numbers for the years of interest. See: http://www.familysearch.org The original hardbound directories are usually in pretty sad shape after 130 years and libraries don't want to damage them further by photocopying. Note: The Trow's New York City Directories for the mid-19th C say, e.g., "For the year ending May 1, 1870" but bear a copyright date 1869, indicating the data was gathered in the months preceding May 1869 and published then, with the directory intended to be used until the next edition came out in May 1870. casey1@mindspring.com wrote: >I have tried for an inter-library loan - and got nothing.
