Is there a way of getting records from the early 1900's of patients at asylums in NY state? I had an uncle born 1909 and died 1926 of St. Vitus Dance in an asylum. My aunt seemed to recall he was admitted to an asylum in the Albany area, even though his family lived in Western NY, in Ontario Cnty. Supposedly, he died when he had a seizure and fell down a flight a stairs, breaking his neck. How would I find his burial? Also, Syracuse had an orphange where my mother was for about 2 years. Is there a way of finding records on her adoption? My father and his siblings were also placed in this orphange, for a period of time when my grandmother was fined for leaving them unattended, because she was working to support her 3 children, when she and they, were abandoned. Any clues on how to get ahold of records? Thanks!
