Could someone advise me about how to get a Declaration of Intention. I have my gggrandfathers citizenship certificate, dated Oct, 1888, which says 'formerly of Germany...now at Rochester. This form has the Monroe county clerk of courts signature and the Monroe county seal. When I call the courthouse and bounce around menus, finally a person who doesn't know what I'm talking about recomends Buffalo. There I can't even connect with anyone. So far I just get long waits and menu options. I am trying to find place of origin and residence in New York, so I know where to look for daeth and marriage records. Are there any indexes for either Monroe County or Oswego County or census indexes?. All I got is Carl's citizenship certificat (Carl then became Charles) and their names and ages when they left Germany (Prussia)in 1881.
