    3. Dear Daniel and List: Thanks for the re-post but I'm afraid that some of my prior instructions are now out-of-date slightly due to the reorganization of the entire GenExchange site. The main NYGenExchange URL is: http://www.genexchange.com/ny/index.cfm >From there you now select the NY county you are interested in. (If you are looking for a Long Island Cemetery but are unsure of the exact location, particularly whether it is in Queens or Brooklyn, check both counties.) Each of the counties now has it's own Cemetery Directory and Burial Index. The major change has been due to the fact that the databases were getting so large that they simply had to be divided up. Naturally, because this is a volunteer effort, some counties are more complete than others. All major, commercial, or religious Long Island (Kings, Queens, Nassau, Suffolk) cemeteries are in the Directories. Burials for these larger and still active cemeteries are entered into the Burial Index at the discretion of the visitor and are in no way connected to the cemeteries themselves. So, if you don't find a particular burial for Holy Cross, Evergreens, etc. it's because they haven't been entered by a researcher who is working on that particular family and chooses to donate the knowledge to the database. For historical (no longer active) cemeteries, however, many have been entered in their entirety by dedicated volunteers who have scoured archives, the cemeteries themselves, and LDS films to bring the information online for those researchers who cannot easily get to the NYC area to find the materials. Enjoy. And, if you have knowledge (no queries, please) of burials at any of the cemeteries, please feel free to add them to the database! Best regards. Nancy.
