Hi, Rooters, I have Henrietta WICKHAM born 8 Feb 1857 in Rockaway, NY (now Lawrence I believe). Her family moved to West Hoboken, NJ (now Union City) between 1865 when a younger brother Nelson Grant was born in New York and Apr 1870 when her younger sister Lillian was born in New Jersey. In the 1870 census, post office was listed as "Jersey City Heights" West Hoboken, NJ. In the 1880 census they were living at Weehawken Street in West Hoboken, NJ. Henrietta had the following siblings: Eliza E. WICKHAM b. ca 1850; Isabelle WICKHAM b. ca 1853; John Franklin WICKHAM b. ca 1859; Ella Cornelia WICKHAM b. ca 1861; Nelson Grant WICKHAM b. ca 1865; Lillian WICKHAM b. ca 1870 in New Jersey. She might have had brothers John Philips WICKHAM b. ca 1845 and James McWhorty WICKHAM b. ca 1848. All children born in New York, except Lillian who was born in New Jersey. Henrietta's father was John WICKHAM, born in England. His occupation is listed as Miller on the 1850 and 1870 census. Her mother Rachel Eliza ? born in New York. In the 1870 census John was 46 and Rachel was 40. If the John and Eliza WICKHAM I found in the 1850 5th Ward, Brooklyn census is them, and if the first children were theirs, Rachel was 15 when the first was born. Their dates have consistently gone up by 10 years in each census, so sounds right; but I sure wasn't ready for children when I was 15. I found no sign of them on the 1900 census. On 12 Oct 1879, Henrietta married William Orin MALLETT in New Milford, CT. She died on 31 Oct 1918 in Middletown, CT and was buried with William in New Milford, CT. Henrietta was my great grandmother and has been a brick wall for some time. Information comes from the death and marriage records of Henrietta and census records. I have no birth record and doubt if one is available. I would love to know more about her parents, expecialy her mother's maiden name. Any direction or suggestions are welcome at this point.
