I am researching Johann Christoph WIETING who came to colonial New York as a soldier (mercenary?) in the English Army. He was captured at Saratoga in 1777 and settled in the US after the Revolution. Maybe someone can answer one or more of the following questions: 1. Is there an Internet Mailing List for Revolutionary War topics only? 2. Am I correct in assuming that the term "Loyalist" applies only to colonists who remained loyal to the Crown, or would a "regular" Army soldier also be considered a "Loyalist"? 3. Any ideas how to find records on captives taken by the Americans during the Revolution? 4. Any ideas how to find records on soldiers in the English Army at the time of the Revolution?
