    3. A while back, a LI genealogy group had a bus trip planned to Municipal Archives in NYC. When I picked up their message on the lister service, they were a few seats short of filling the bus, so I offered to 'pay for a seat' the bus if someone would do a look-up for me while there. I sent the money, someone did the look-up, found my grandparents 1884 marriage record in Brooklyn, and I was thrilled! It was grandparents I'd never met as they died just after I was born, and of course, my parents were gone when I started my genealogy...... I'm hoping this approach will be effective again, because I have 3 family members who died on Staten Island between 1864 and 1867, for whom I have no death record [or burial] other than family statements. I can get little help through letters to various sites--have been told it's the Municipal Archives and it's best to go there oneself. Except I live in California. SO-- If someone is planning a trip to the Archives, may I 'pay my way' for a kind soul to do 3 look-ups? All were members of the same SI Reformed Dutch Church in Northfield or Port Richmond. Don't remember the actual cost for that bus ride into the City, but I think I sent $20. I'll provide the details off line if there is a volunteer and/or a trip scheduled in which I can participate.
