Hi Listers! I have been looking for over 25 years for my gggGrandfather and gggGrandmother's birthplace in Ireland. They are buried, along with several of their children in St. Paul's Cemetery. Andrew CANNON was born 'in Ireland' in 1785, died in Eastchester Oct 10.1855. Catherine (unknown) was born 'in Ireland in 1782, died in Eastchester Feb. 18, 1854 Have no idea when or where they were married. Son James was born 7/1/1805, died 1/30/1856 Daughter Mary born 6/22/1807, died 6/25/1835 Daughter Catherine Ann born 7/101812, died 9/15/1833 Daughter Antionette born 11/22/1815, died 9/4/1831 Daughter Martha born 4/18/1817, died 8/11/1835 Son Thomas Erwin born 11/1830, died 5/23/1838 Unnamed child of James Cannon and Rhoda (Barton) Cannon died !!/17/1841 The above was obtained by a kind caretaker from the tombstones at St. Paul's One son, John, who survived and moved to Newark,NJ is my ggGrandfather. I do not know if there were other children who survived. NOW, Is there some kind soul out there who can help me with the next steps I can take to find out where in Ireland I can find more family. Would there be a newspaper that might have carried the obituaries of Andrew and Catherine? >I have tried through Rootsweb but to no avail. I have (in the past) tried the Eastchester Historical Society and the Westchester Historical Society. No luck. A Catherine Carretta in 1981 (Westchester H. S.) wrote me that she found that James was a Constable in the town of Eastchester in the 1860's. How would I go about looking for wills and deeds? Andrew was a farmer. I do not even know how I know that. Will be coming to West Point for my husband's Korean War Reunion of sorts and hope to take some time to visit St. Paul's while we are there. I hope to at least take pictures of the tombstones while there. I have the grave #'s. Thank You Kindly, Joan Cannon Martin PS Does anyone have any suggestions for a hotel or motel in the area of St. Pauls or While Plains? > > ==== GEN-NYS Mailing List ==== > Visit the GEN-NYS-L web page: > http://www.rootsweb.com/~nozell/GEN-NYS-L/ > >
