I am seeking the descendents of Harrison Givens, born 8 Mar 1839 on Gee Hill in the town of Virgil, Cortland Co., NY. He was the son of William Givens and Anna Mills. He died on 23 June 1877 in Cortland, NY. He married Mary Jennie Watrous on 17 May 1864. She was born 19 Mar 1839 in Freetown, Cortland Co., NY and died in Cortland, NY 4 Dec 1910. He was a Lieut in the Civil War In 1865, 1866, and 1868, he purchased land in the village of Cortland. The 1865 purchase could have been for a house......but, the other two must have been for a business.........but I have no knowledge what type of business it could have been. In 1860 census for Cortland he was listed as a clerk. They both are buried in Cortland Rural Cemetery. He is a brother of my 2nd great grandfather..........and I have not been able to find any children for them. "Genealogy is the art of irritating the living and confusing the dead!"
