I am searching for descendents of Amasa and Anna E Givens..........Amasa was born on Gee Hill in the town of Virgil, Cortland County, New York on 23 April 1835. He was the son of William Givens and Anna Mills. He died in Cortland, Cortland County, New York on 3 Feb 1879. Anna E. was born 17 Jun 1839 and died 17 April 1885 in Cortland, Cortland County, New York. They both are buried in Cortland Rural Cemetery. When Amasa was a young man he came to Cortland, from Virgil, and engaged as a clerk in the mercantile business, which he made his life work. By industry and honesty he steadily advanced until he became senior partner of the firm with which he remained connected as long as his health permitted. He and his wife lived on Tompkins Street, in the City of Cortland. Amasa is the brother to my 2nd great grandfather, George Washington Givens.
