Hi, don't know if anyone can help me. My mother was born in Washington DC and adopted in Mineola, Nassau County. The adoption became final on February 3, 1032. Don't know if this is true, but I'm told that adoption records weren't sealed until 1936 and that her records might be available to look at or get a copy of. We already have what we believe was the birth mothers name and my mothers birth name. I'd like to verify this. All my life she's never been interested at all about this but now she would just like to know more. She doesn't want to meet anyone, but since she is not very healthy, all of a sudden she wants to know anything she can find out. She asked me to try to help. I've tried to figure out the adoption agency, the lawyers used, or anything. I'm hopeing that if I can get a copy of the court record this might answer some of these questions. Does anyone know how I would go about this? Since I don't live nearby, is anyone available to do a lookup? I'd be happy to pay for any copies you could get.
