Trying to find m dates and locations for Annie Woodruff LAY, m 1st to Edward JOURNEAY c1885-88 prob. in NYC area, and m 2nd to Dr. Thomas Bellows BUFFUM c 1907 after Edward's death. Edward was b in Staten Island, Thomas in Walpole, NH. Also searching for Edward's d date, prob. bet. 1895 and 1907. NY 1910 Census had Thomas and Annie m for 3 years. Annie was b 17 May 1866 at 18 Greene Ave., Brooklyn. Father was John Calvin Lay b at Leonia, NJ per Annie's birth certificate. Mother was Elizabeth Esther ROOSEVELT, b in NYC. Also need to find sources to confirm John's b and d dates, 29 Mar 1820 and 24 Sep 1902 (both from old family prayer book) and locations of those events. John and Elizabeth were married in Trinity Church Parish, NYC 14 Jun 1855. Her name was listed as Elizabeth E FERRIS, indicating a previous marriage. Theodore Roosevelt Assoc. Journal lists S. J. Ferris as lst spouse of Elizabeth; and the m date as 24 Jan 1848 in NYC. Family prayer book lists the name Roosevelt Ferris w/out dates or identification, leading to the assumption he was Elizabeth's son from that 1st marriage.
