    3. Hi, I had this happen. I found an old newspaper article from about 1910 or so saying my ggg aunt had been dug up from an old cemetery in the city and they moved the bodies to Hart Island/Potter's Field. I have tried to contact the people in charge of the Island but they have not written me back. Lisa From: "Jan Miller" <jgrellim@sbcglobal.net> To: GEN-NYS-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Old NYC Burials/Removals Does the City of New York have a listing of the cemeteries that no longer exist? For example--someone dies in Old New York, 1839; was buried at that time. Where would he be buried? And obviously, as skyscrapers were erected and removals occurred, where were those cemeteries moved? What happened as removals were made prior to excavation for building? Does the Municipal Archives hold those records? Archived to the State? This is a hard question, and I will appreciate ANY help.
