Hello, I am new to this list and would like to know if there was a passenger train from New York City to northern New York State (US-Canada border) in c1849. I have a ship's passenger list which has some relatives arriving in NYC in January, 1849 and I wonder if it would have been possible for them to make their way to the Ottawa Valley area of Ontario, Canada at that time.
