I have just started putting the 2nd ward of this census online. I hope to have it completely online in a day or two. This ward includes 4,401 individuals in 530 dwellings and 906 families. Thanks to to the following transcribers who gave up their time to transcribe a difficult ward so others could get easier access to the census: Bob McConihe, Sharon King, Marie McConky, Terry Bora, Kay Brearton, Sharon Minkel and Shirley Becker. This ward was very difficult to read due to condition of the film, original document and the handwriting of the enumerators. Also, one enumerator could not spell even simple first names, let alone surnames, so please if you think your ancestor is in the census and you can't find them, use many many spellings of your surname. All names are transcribed as written, so if spelled incorrectly by the enumerator, they are transcribed that way. Also, remember while each page is checked by two transcribers, mistakes are made and you should never consider this work a source document. Always refer to the film or original record for accuracy. The 3rd and 4th wards are done and waiting for me to put them together and format them to get online. The 5th ward is currently being transcribed and we need more help. So, if anyone would like to help, please contact me off line. You can find the census links on the Troy section of my website, the url is under my name. -- Pat Connors, Sacramento CA http://www.connorsgenealogy.com
